My ultimate goal is to empower women and men to achieve equity in the pursuit of their goals and dreams, while also promoting optimal brain health and wellness. With my brand, Florae Beauty, I am committed to providing solutions that support overall health and well-being, helping individuals to reach their full potential.

Dr. King, hailing from the beautiful islands of Jamaica and Cuba, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. She then went on to complete her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Chicago at the age of 26, one of the youngest and first afro-latina to receive this degree in their 147-yr. old history. Her scientific work was primarily focused on understanding biological mechanisms responsible for autism and depression, and she spent most of her days working with human blood samples reviewing the role of the neurotransmitter serotonin in both of these conditions.

Her graduate school experience was one of triumph but also tragedy as her father’s sudden passing and her friend’s suicide both significantly shaped who she is today and have led to her continued effort to lead important discussions about health and diseases of the brain. She has since spent her life finding ways to both work on topics of the brain and human interaction in various organizations and vowed to always be willing to start the hard conversations.

In spite of her early accomplishments and growing expertise as a brain health expert, Natalie has the energy and passion to give back to the community through leadership, mentorship, and STEM advocacy. She is an advisory board member of "The Girls for Science" mentorship program and committee member of Black Girls Do STEM; both organizations empower young girls to learn and pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. She has also been recognized as one of Magic Johnson’s Playbook 32 Under 32 inductee’s and served on a variety of other committees and advisory boards for numerous national and international organizations, including UNICEF Next Gen, Women in Bio, and Make-A-Wish Illinois.

Finally, she currently works, in addition to her role as Founder of Florae, as a Medical Science Liaison in Neurology, leading multi-state medical strategy for the central states region and positively impacting the lives of real patients every day. Her previous work in Medical Affairs have included appointments in Women’s Health and Vascular Medicine and she is also a double-licensed Emergency Medical Technician. Natalie’s ultimate goal is to continue to pave the way for women and men of all ages to pursue their goals and dreams and also achieve optimal brain health and wellness.
